Objective: The materials used for fabrication of acrylic dental prostheses are absorbent and prone to micro-organism accumulation. Wearing removable dental prosthesis causes an alteration in the oral microflora. For certain individuals, this new environment is responsible for the development of a particular condition: denture prosthetic stomatitis or denture associated stomatitis. The purpose of the study was to isolate and identify the microorganisms and to estimate the frequency of microorganisms from tissue surface of removable prosthesis. Fifty patients were selected who were wearing removable prosthesis for at least 6 months. Swabs were collected from the tissue surface of the denture immediately after removal from the mouth.
