Effect of Convergence Angle on Retention of full Veneer Crown: Comparison between 3° and 9° Tapering

Background: The basic factor of retention of crown is the tapering of tooth preparation. A slight convergence or taper is clinically desirable in complete cast crown preparation. As long as this taper is small, the movement of the cemented restoration will be effectively restrained by the preparation and will have limited path of insertion. To less the taper may lead to unwanted undercuts where too large leads to lack of retention.
